In a world where homes have become personal sanctuaries, the homeware and lifestyle industry continues to grow as people seek comfort, functionality, and style in their surroundings. Today’s consumers are drawn to brands that blend authenticity with craftsmanship, where design meets daily life in meaningful ways. Among these modern storytellers of living spaces stands Father Rabbit, a brand that has turned simplicity and elegance into a timeless philosophy of living.

From a Living Room Dream to a Beloved Brand.

The story of Father Rabbit began in 2010, when Claudia Zinzan and Nick Hutchinson transformed a corner of their Grey Lynn home into an online store. With their newborn by their side, the couple packed orders by hand, crafting a business built on care, attention, and heart. Every order was more than a transaction—it was an invitation to join a community that valued quality and charm.

By 2012, Father Rabbit had outgrown its small beginnings. Their family home evolved into a “house shop,” where visitors could experience the brand’s curated lifestyle in person. Handwritten receipts and personal greetings captured the warmth of a brand that always stayed true to its roots in family and thoughtful design.

Growth, Creativity, and New Beginnings.

As the brand flourished, Father Rabbit’s presence expanded beyond the walls of their home. In 2013, they opened their first BLOC Mt Eden store, followed by the charming Herne Bay location in 2014. Each store reflected the brand’s timeless aesthetic—effortless, clean, and inviting. That same year, the launch of Best Abroad, their wholesale division, marked a new chapter of creativity and innovation.

By 2016, the brand had grown into an Auckland favorite, celebrated for its mix of heritage charm and modern sensibility. The Orakei Bay store opened its doors, followed in 2020 by the Newmarket Father Rabbit Select store, where apparel and new brands found a home even during the uncertainty of a global pandemic.

A Legacy Built on Care and Collaboration.

Ten years after its inception, Father Rabbit celebrated a remarkable milestone in 2020. The brand’s growth was not just measured in new stores but in the team of over 20 dedicated staff who brought the vision to life every day. In 2022, the move to a 600sqm headquarters in New Lynn symbolized a new era, where tradition and innovation meet under one roof.

Today, Father Rabbit continues to collaborate with artists, designers, and creative partners, weaving together a story that celebrates beauty in everyday moments. Claudia leads the creative and buying direction, while Nick oversees the wholesale side, ensuring that every product—from homewares and gifts to apparel and lifestyle essentials—reflects the same meticulous care that started it all. Father Rabbit remains more than just a brand; it is a way of living where charm, craftsmanship, and calm coexist beautifully.
